In the world

Why did I read today's paper?
Filled with heartache, and despair
Each page told the same story;
Violence, corruption and blame.
What a let down;
For me, for society, for the world.
There is no peace,
No heroes,
Where has love gone?
Have we been beaten
By Depression, by Fear by Anxiety?
And are we too afraid to aid, to protect, to rescue
The battered, the sick, the oppressed
From the violence of today's society?
I am ashamed, I am embarrassed;
This is not what Jesus lived for, died for.
